The Inspiration for Laura’s Home…. - The City Mission of Cleveland, Ohio

Laura Hein Moll’s values and her life of discipline, sacrifice and hard work to provide for her family was a model and inspiration for Laura’s Home.

Born in Germany in the 1800s, Laura found herself widowed and homeless. She was committed to providing for her children by seizing opportunities and worked several jobs to supplement her meager income. Many times her six children gathered around an empty table to offer thanks to God and to ask for provisions. Their prayers were often miraculously answered by baskets of food left on their doorstep the next day.

Her only son, Theo, came to America at the age of 19 with $10 in his pocket. It was the example of his mother’s faith and strength that helped him achieve success while continuing to give back to others throughout his life.

Theo’s son, Curt Moll and his wife Sara led the capital campaign that raised over $9.5 million to renovate and expand the former Glenbeigh Hospital.

Laura’s Home was dedicated to the life of Laura Hein Moll in February 2003.
